If you are not sure, you should download these two PDF FREE that show how to trade with candlestick and divergence patterns in combination with moving averages. However, one candlestick pattern which is known as the pinbar is very important. Professional traders use this pattern a lot in making decisions. This pattern has a very small body and a very long shadow either on the upside or the downside.

It is also called the hanging man or a hammer as well as the morning star and the evening star. This one candlestick pattern is very important in telling you about the price reversal. Generally it is known as the pinbar. However, this pinbar pattern is also known as the Lucky Spike. This is a very important pattern and I use it a lot in my trading as do most other professional traders. You should get thoroughly familiar with this lucky spike or the pinbar pattern.

This candlestick pattern is explained in detail in one of these 2 PDFs. This forex scalping system just uses two indicators Stochastic and the MACD. MACD is the main indicator that is used to make the entry and the exit decisions while the Stochastic is used to identify the overbought and oversold condition as well as to identify the divergences. Below is the screenshot of this scalping system in action on M5 timeframe.

These are the entry and exit rules for this system. When the MACD signal line crosses the histogram line as shown above by the up arrow, you will make an entry according to the direction of the trend. In the above screenshot the signal line crosses above the histogram line which is an indication of a downtrend so we will enter into a short trade.

We will stay in the trade as long as the signal line is above the histogram line. When the signal line again crosses the MACD histogram line and goes below, we will get out. In the above screenshot, we got in around 1. But as said above, I use this scalping system on M15 timeframe more as the potential of making pips is double that as compared to the M5 timeframe plus you have more time to make the entry and the exit decisions which makes trading less tiring and more relaxed on M15 as compared to M5.

Below is the screenshot of this forex scalper system in action on the M15 timeframe. So we wait for the signal line to cross above the MACD histogram line which it does pretty soon.

So I got in around 1. When the signal line crossed the histogram line and went below it, I closed the trade around 1. As you can see in the above screenshot the up red arrow when the MACD signal line crossed and went below the histogram is an indication of a potential long trade. You should also observe the bullish divergence appearing on the Stochastic, so I went long just as I closed the short trade around 1.

Around 1. So I made 38 pips from this long trade that lasted about a couple of hours. On M15 timeframe you will get almost signals with this system daily so you can easily make something like pips per day with this system. The best time to trade with this system are of course the London and the NY Market Sessions. Below is another screenshot of this system in action making more than pips this time! As you can see in the above screenshot, this time MACD is showing a bullish divergence pattern.

So you wait for the signal line to go below the MACD which it does after hours. The problem with divergences is that you can get in too early to find the price going in the same direction to your horror.

This happens to many new traders. There can be triple divergence before the price reverses itself. I use MACD to confirm the divergence pattern as explained above. Divergence indicates price about to reverse. I wait for the MACD signal line to tell me when this is confirmed and then enter into a trade accordingly.

In the above trade, I got in around 1. Please feel free to ask any questions below! Hi there. Looks like a nice system. Hi Ronald, thanks for commenting. Moving averages are there on the screenshot. Red is EMA5 and yellow is EMA The larger the timeframe chosen by a trader, the larger the time interval encompassed in one candle on the chart.

The choice is not limited to the above-mentioned timeframes. Traders can also make use of non-standard timeframes like three-minute M3 or two-hour H2 ones. You can learn how to create a non-standard timeframe manually in MT4 here. So, what is H1 timeframe in Forex?

On H1 each candle on the chart corresponds to one hour. Thus, the chart provides us with information on the opening price, the closing price, the minimum price, and the maximum price over each hour. At that, the visible time interval begins on September 10 and ends on September September 12 and 13 are skipped because they're part of the weekend.

Now let's consider an example of the larger timeframe — four-hour H4 — shown in the chart below:. Note that the new chart shows a longer time interval beginning on August On the H4 timeframe, we have also selected the time period visible on the previous H1 timeframe — the difference between these two visible time periods is just about 4 times.

Timeframe is a way of grouping prices to display them on the chart in a more convenient manner. There are numerous types of timeframes, but the following ones are the most common through different platforms:.

All these timeframes are present in the most popular trading terminal — MetaTrader4 MT4. So what does all these timeframes M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4, D1, W1, and MN mean in Forex trading? The timeframe label indicates the amount of time one candle refers to. The larger the timeframe chosen by a trader, the larger the time interval encompassed in one candle on the chart.

What is the best timeframe to trade? A clear answer cannot be given here, because it depends on a number of specific features. For example, the nature of your trading system or a general approach to trading. Some traders trade within a day making many trades; others — trades during this period, while some make only 1 trade a week.

Despite such a large room for choice, we still advise you to select the timeframes starting from M30 and larger. Moreover, M30 is no worse than other lower timeframes for intraday trading. The given state of the market is easy to determine on the chart: the market lacks a trend, and the price moves chaotically and in a confusing manner. Usually, the price moves in one direction for a long time after the pattern is broken out, but in our case it immediately comes back to the previous level.

This example clearly illustrates that using technical analysis on small timeframes is very difficult. Indeed, the trend is clearly visible on the H1 timeframe. One can even plot the boundaries of the downward price range on the chart. It can be concluded that the larger the timeframe, the clearer signals can be get by analyzing the chart of a currency pair.

Such time intervals are good for very experienced traders who assess the market situation with fundamental analysis and can wait for the right moment to make a trade for weeks or even months. M30, H1, and H4 timeframes are well suited for newbie traders trading on a regular basis. Another important advantage of these timeframes is that a trader can measure the profitability of their own strategy on a demo account within a short period of time and hence the feasibility of its practical application.

Additionally, you can use multiple timeframes simultaneously depending on the market situation. For example, when important economic news are released, you can decrease a timeframe for trading with more precision and increase it if there is the long-lasting flat market.
